Mowgli

Mowgli is a fictional character from Rudyard Kipling's *The Jungle Book* (1894)—a human boy raised by wolves in the Indian jungle.

The name has become shorthand for any feral child or someone who grew up wild and outside civilization: He spent his childhood in the woods like some kind of Mowgli.
