Minion

Subordinate who grovels

A minion is a servile follower or subordinate, especially one who carries out orders without question.

The word often carries a note of contempt—minions do the bidding of someone more powerful: The CEO sent his minions to handle the negotiations.

In fantasy and gaming, minions are weak underlings serving a villain or boss.

The term has softened through the animated film franchise featuring small yellow creatures, making minion sometimes playful rather than dismissive.
