minions

Henchfolk who obey

Minions are subordinates who carry out someone else's orders, typically with blind loyalty.

The word usually carries a negative connotation—suggesting servility or complicity in wrongdoing: The villain dispatched his minions to do the dirty work.

A minion can also be a favorite or darling, though this older sense is rare.

The 2010 animated film *Despicable Me* popularized minions as small yellow cartoon creatures, now ubiquitous in memes and merchandise.
