Miami-Dade

South Florida county

Miami-Dade is a county in southeastern Florida encompassing Miami and its surrounding metropolitan area.

The hyphenated name honors both the city and Major Francis Dade, killed in an 1835 Seminole attack.

It's Florida's most populous county and a major gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean: Miami-Dade has a large Cuban-American population.
