Mentos
Geyser-triggering candy
Mentos is a brand of chewy mint candy sold in rolls, originating in the Netherlands.
The candies are known for their hard shell and soft interior.
Mentos achieved internet fame for the dramatic fountain effect when dropped into diet cola—the rough candy surface causes rapid carbon dioxide release, creating a geyser: We did the Mentos and Coke experiment in the backyard.
