LED backlight
Display brightness source
LED backlight refers to a display technology where light-emitting diodes illuminate a screen from behind.
Most LCD televisions and monitors use LED backlights rather than older fluorescent tubes, offering thinner designs, better contrast, and lower power consumption: The TV's LED backlight allows for local dimming in dark scenes.
Marketing often shortens this to "LED TV," though the display itself remains LCD.
