e-ink

Reader screen tech

E-ink is a display technology that mimics the appearance of printed paper, using tiny capsules of charged black and white particles that rearrange when voltage is applied.

Unlike backlit screens, e-ink reflects ambient light and holds an image without power, making it easy on the eyes and energy-efficient.

E-ink dominates e-readers like Kindle and Kobo: I prefer e-ink for reading in sunlight.

Also spelled E Ink (the company's trademark) or eink.
