plasma display
Gas-cell television technology
A plasma display is a flat-panel screen technology that creates images by exciting tiny cells of ionized gas (plasma) between two glass panels.
Each cell functions as a miniature fluorescent lamp, producing light when electrical current passes through.
Plasma displays offered superior contrast and viewing angles compared to early LCD screens, but the technology has been largely superseded by LED and OLED displays.
