Isabella of Castile
Isabella of Castile (1451–1504) was Queen of Castile whose marriage to Ferdinand of Aragon united Spain's two largest kingdoms.
She sponsored Columbus's 1492 voyage to the Americas and, with Ferdinand, completed the Reconquista by conquering Granada.
The same year, they expelled Jews who refused conversion—establishing the Spanish Inquisition's religious uniformity through force.
She is sometimes called Isabella the Catholic.
