Catherine Howard
Tudor king's fifth
Catherine Howard was the fifth wife of Henry VIII of England, queen consort from 1540 until her execution in 1542.
A teenaged cousin of Anne Boleyn, she was beheaded for adultery after evidence emerged of premarital sexual relationships and a possible affair during her marriage.
Her fall contributed to the stereotype of Henry's wives as tragic victims of his tyranny.
