Indiana Jones

Indiana Jones is a fictional archaeologist and adventurer, the hero of a film franchise beginning in 1981.

The character—a professor who trades tweed for a leather jacket and bullwhip—has become shorthand for daring, globe-trotting adventure: He fancies himself an Indiana Jones type, always chasing some artifact.

The name evokes pulp heroism and narrow escapes from ancient traps.
