John Rambo
John Rambo is the fictional Vietnam War veteran played by Sylvester Stallone in the *Rambo* film series, beginning with *First Blood* (1982).
The character—a traumatized Green Beret who becomes a one-man army against his enemies—has become shorthand for excessive military force or lone-wolf heroics: He went full Rambo on them.
To go Rambo or pull a Rambo is to attack a situation with overwhelming, often reckless aggression.
