Iditarod

Nome-bound sled race

The Iditarod is an annual long-distance sled dog race across Alaska, running roughly 1,000 miles from Anchorage to Nome.

The race commemorates the 1925 serum run that delivered diphtheria antitoxin to Nome by dog sled relay.

It has become synonymous with extreme endurance events: Training for this marathon feels like my own personal Iditarod.
