greyhound racing
Canine track competition
Greyhound racing is a sport in which greyhounds chase a mechanical lure around an oval track while spectators bet on the outcome.
The dogs run at speeds up to 45 miles per hour.
Once popular in the United States and United Kingdom, the sport has declined sharply due to animal welfare concerns and competition from other forms of gambling.
