Nome
Arctic sled destination
Nome is a city on the western coast of Alaska, famous for the Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race that ends there each March.
The remote town became prominent during the Alaska Gold Rush of the late 1890s: Mushers race over a thousand miles to reach Nome. (Lowercase nome is an administrative district.)
