Hume
Causation's famous doubter
Hume usually refers to David Hume (1711–1776), the Scottish philosopher whose skeptical empiricism profoundly shaped Western thought.
His arguments about causation, induction, and the limits of human knowledge remain central to philosophy: Hume argued we can never observe causation directly, only constant conjunction.
Hume is also a surname and occasional given name.
