Henry Miller

Henry Miller (1891–1980) was an American writer known for sexually explicit, autobiographical novels that were banned in the United States for decades. *Tropic of Cancer* and *Tropic of Capricorn* blend memoir, philosophy, and graphic sexuality in a stream-of-consciousness style.

The 1961 lifting of the U.S. ban on his work was a landmark censorship case.

Miller influenced the Beats and later countercultural writers.
