Gertrude Stein
Gertrude Stein was an American writer who lived in Paris from 1903 until her death in 1946, hosting a famous salon for modernist artists and writers including Picasso, Hemingway, and Matisse.
Her experimental prose style featured radical repetition and present-tense immediacy: Rose is a rose is a rose is a rose.
She coined the phrase "Lost Generation" to describe post-WWI expatriate writers.
