Harry Belafonte

Harry Belafonte was an American singer, actor, and activist whose 1956 album *Calypso* became the first million-selling LP by a single artist.

Known as the "King of Calypso," he popularized Caribbean music with hits like "Day-O (The Banana Boat Song)" and "Jump in the Line." Beyond entertainment, Belafonte was a prominent civil rights activist and humanitarian, working closely with Martin Luther King Jr. and later as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
