Harold Wilson
Sixties Labour leader
Harold Wilson was a British Labour politician who served as Prime Minister twice, from 1964 to 1970 and 1974 to 1976.
He led Britain through significant social reforms, economic challenges, and kept the country out of the Vietnam War.
Wilson was known for his pipe-smoking public image and sharp parliamentary wit.
His governments expanded comprehensive education, liberalized laws on abortion and homosexuality, and navigated turbulent relations with trade unions.
