Hare Krishnas

Airport chanting group

Hare Krishnas are members of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness, a Hindu religious movement founded in 1966.

The name comes from their devotional chant beginning "Hare Krishna." They became visible in Western cities through public chanting, distinctive robes, and shaved heads: Hare Krishnas handed out flowers at the airport.

The term sometimes carries connotations of aggressive proselytizing or cult-like devotion.
