H-bomb

Megaton-yield explosive device

An H-bomb is a hydrogen bomb—a thermonuclear weapon that derives its destructive force from nuclear fusion.

Developed in the early 1950s, it represents the most powerful class of nuclear weapons: The first H-bomb was tested in 1952.

The capital H distinguishes it as a proper technical term in military and scientific contexts. (Lowercase h-bomb is the same weapon.)
