Freddy Krueger
Freddy Krueger is the villain of the *Nightmare on Elm Street* horror film series, a burned killer who murders teenagers in their dreams.
With his bladed glove, striped sweater, and fedora, he became an iconic figure of 1980s slasher cinema.
The name is used allusively for anything nightmarish or inescapable: Finals week is my personal Freddy Krueger.
