Ellen Ripley

Ellen Ripley is a fictional character from the *Alien* film franchise, first appearing in 1979.

A warrant officer aboard a commercial spacecraft, she becomes the sole survivor of an alien attack and the series' enduring protagonist.

The character, portrayed by Sigourney Weaver, is considered a landmark in action cinema for establishing a resourceful, unglamorous female hero in a genre dominated by men.

She went full Ripley on that problem—confronting it with unflinching determination.
