Eurydice

Lost to glancing

Eurydice is a figure from Greek mythology, the wife of Orpheus.

When she died from a snakebite, Orpheus descended to the underworld and charmed Hades with his music, winning permission to lead her back to the living—on the condition he not look back.

He looked; she vanished forever.

The story has inspired countless operas, poems, and films exploring love, loss, and the impossibility of undoing death.
