Downton

British aristocratic drama

Downton is a place name for several English villages, most notably in Wiltshire.

The word gained widespread recognition through *Downton Abbey*, a British television drama about an aristocratic family and their servants in the early 20th century.

References to Downton often evoke Edwardian grandeur, class hierarchy, and period costume: They're having a Downton-style dinner party.
