A dachshund is a small dog breed with a long body, short legs, and drooping ears—sometimes called a wiener dog or sausage dog for its shape.
Originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers in burrows, dachshunds come in standard and miniature sizes, with smooth, longhaired, or wirehaired coats.
They're known for being spirited and stubborn.
