Pet Sounds
Animal companion vocalizations
Pet Sounds is the eleventh studio album by the Beach Boys, released in 1966.
Widely regarded as one of the most influential albums in rock history, it marked a departure from the band's earlier surf-rock sound toward more introspective themes and sophisticated studio production.
Brian Wilson's layered arrangements and unconventional instrumentation—including theremin, bicycle bells, and Coca-Cola cans—helped establish the album as a landmark of the studio-as-instrument approach.
Pet Sounds changed what people thought a pop album could be.
