Bethlehem Steel

Historic American manufacturer

Bethlehem Steel was an American steel and shipbuilding company, once the second-largest steel producer in the United States.

Founded in the late 19th century in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, it built warships, skyscrapers, and bridges—including structural steel for the Golden Gate Bridge and the Empire State Building.

The company's 2001 bankruptcy became a symbol of American industrial decline.

My grandfather worked at Bethlehem Steel for thirty years.
