Adam's apple

Visible voice box

The Adam's apple is the visible lump at the front of the throat, more prominent in men than women.

It's formed by the larynx cartilage and moves when you swallow.

The name comes from a folk etymology suggesting a piece of forbidden fruit lodged in Adam's throat: His Adam's apple bobbed nervously as he spoke.
