yellowlegs
Long-billed marsh bird
Yellowlegs are medium-sized shorebirds with long, bright yellow legs.
Two species inhabit North America: the greater yellowlegs and the lesser yellowlegs, distinguished mainly by size.
They wade in shallow water, probing mud for invertebrates, and are commonly seen during migration: We spotted a yellowlegs at the marsh.
