willet
Gray-brown beach bird
A willet is a large North American shorebird with mottled gray-brown plumage and distinctive black-and-white wing patterns visible in flight.
Found along coastlines and in marshes, it's named for its loud, piercing call: pill-will-willet.
The bird probes mud and sand for invertebrates with its long, straight bill.
