wild blueberry

Small woodland berry

Wild blueberry refers to blueberry species that grow naturally rather than being cultivated, particularly the lowbush blueberry native to northeastern North America.

Wild blueberries are smaller and more intensely flavored than their cultivated cousins: Wild blueberry pancakes are a Maine specialty.

The berries are harvested commercially but from managed wild stands rather than planted rows.
