Heavy-lift flying crane
A skycrane is a heavy-lift helicopter designed to carry external loads suspended by cable.
The term applies especially to the Sikorsky CH-54 military helicopter and its civilian variant, used for placing construction materials, moving equipment to remote sites, or firefighting with water tanks: The skycrane lowered the air conditioning unit onto the roof.
NASA also used the name for the descent system that lowered rovers onto Mars.
