underbridge

Lower crossing path

An underbridge is a bridge that carries a road or railway over another route passing beneath it.

The term is used primarily in British English and in technical or engineering contexts, distinguishing this structure from an overbridge, which is the bridge as experienced from below.

The underbridge needed repairs after heavy flooding damaged its supports.
