twice-born
Born again, metaphorically
Twice-born describes someone who has undergone a spiritual rebirth or profound transformation.
In Hinduism, the term applies to members of the three upper castes who undergo a coming-of-age initiation ceremony, after which they are considered spiritually reborn.
More broadly, it describes anyone who has experienced a dramatic religious conversion or awakening: He considered himself twice-born after finding faith in prison.
