translocate

Shift to another

To translocate is to move something from one place to another, typically used in technical or scientific contexts.

In biology, it describes the movement of substances within an organism—nutrients translocating through plant tissue, or chromosomes translocating genetic material.

In conservation, animals are translocated when moved to new habitats: The wolves were translocated to Yellowstone.
