transected
Divided by cutting
Transected means cut across or divided by cutting through, typically along a line or plane.
The term appears most often in scientific and medical contexts: a surgeon transects a nerve, a researcher transects tissue for examination.
In ecology, to transect an area is to survey it along a straight line: We transected the forest to count species at regular intervals.
