traffic signal
Red yellow green
A traffic signal is a set of colored lights—typically red, yellow, and green—mounted at intersections to control the flow of vehicles and pedestrians.
Red means stop, green means go, and yellow signals that a change is imminent.
Traffic signals may also include dedicated lights for turning lanes or pedestrian crossings.
The terms traffic signal and traffic light are interchangeable in everyday use.
