trade-wind
Sailor's reliable breeze
A trade-wind is a steady wind that blows toward the equator from the northeast in the Northern Hemisphere and from the southeast in the Southern Hemisphere.
These reliable winds historically powered sailing ships along trade routes, hence the name.
Usually plural: The ship caught the trade-winds and made good time across the Atlantic.
