masterplan
Overarching design scheme
A masterplan is a comprehensive strategy or scheme that coordinates multiple elements toward a long-term goal.
Urban planners create masterplans for city development; villains in fiction hatch masterplans for world domination.
The word implies ambition and scope—something more elaborate than a simple plan: The CEO unveiled her masterplan for the company's expansion.
Also spelled master plan.
