thermistors

Heat-sensitive electrical components

Thermistors is the plural of thermistor, a type of resistor whose electrical resistance changes significantly with temperature.

The name blends "thermal" and "resistor." Thermistors appear in temperature sensors, circuit protection devices, and digital thermometers: The thermistors in the HVAC system monitor room temperature.

They come in two types—NTC thermistors decrease resistance as temperature rises, while PTC thermistors increase resistance.
