tevilah
Jewish purification bath
Tevilah is the Jewish ritual of full-body immersion in a mikveh (ritual bath) for purposes of spiritual purification.
The practice marks transitions—conversion to Judaism, a bride before marriage, or monthly purification after menstruation.
Orthodox communities maintain strict requirements about the water source and complete submersion: She went to the mikveh for tevilah before her wedding.
