choleric

Quick to anger

Choleric describes someone easily angered or quick-tempered.

The word comes from the old medical theory of four humors, where excess yellow bile (choler) supposedly caused irritability.

Today it simply means irascible or prone to outbursts: a choleric boss who berated employees over minor mistakes, His choleric temperament made negotiations difficult.
