yellow bile
Hot, dry temperament
Yellow bile is one of the four humors in ancient and medieval medicine, believed to be produced by the liver and associated with a hot, dry temperament.
An excess supposedly caused irritability, aggression, and a choleric disposition.
The humoral system—yellow bile, black bile, blood, and phlegm—was thought to govern health and personality until modern medicine displaced it.
