technobabble

Fake expert speak

Technobabble is jargon-heavy language that sounds technical but conveys little actual meaning, often used to impress or confuse rather than explain.

The term originated in science fiction criticism, describing the pseudo-scientific dialogue characters use to explain plot devices: The warp core needs recalibrating to compensate for the subspace anomaly.

It now applies broadly to any speech heavy on buzzwords and light on substance: The presentation was pure technobabble about synergizing our digital ecosystem.
