sci-fi parody
Genre mocking itself
A sci-fi parody is a work that mocks or satirizes science fiction conventions—the tropes, clichés, and familiar storylines of the genre.
These range from affectionate send-ups to sharp critiques: Galaxy Quest is a sci-fi parody that lovingly skewers Star Trek fandom.
The form requires enough familiarity with its target that audiences recognize what's being lampooned.
