tearsheet

Advertiser's printed evidence

A tearsheet is a page torn or cut from a publication, kept as proof that an advertisement ran or an article appeared.

Advertisers receive tearsheets to verify placement; writers and artists collect them for portfolios.

In publishing and advertising, the term now includes digital equivalents—PDFs or screenshots serving the same documentary purpose.
