syndromes
Recognized symptom patterns
Syndromes is the plural of syndrome, a group of symptoms that consistently occur together or a condition characterized by such a set: The patient presented with symptoms consistent with several known syndromes.
Beyond medicine, syndrome describes any pattern of behaviors or traits that tend to cluster: empty nest syndrome, impostor syndrome.
The word often carries clinical or diagnostic overtones even in casual use.
