depersonalization
Watching yourself distantly
Depersonalization is a psychological state in which you feel detached from yourself—as if observing your own thoughts, feelings, or body from outside.
The experience often accompanies anxiety, trauma, or dissociative disorders: During the panic attack, I felt a strange depersonalization, like I was watching myself from across the room.
The term also describes removing individual character from something, making it impersonal or generic.
